Any suggestions as to how I can unblock my gutter and drainpipe?
I have a two storey mid-terraced house with a single storey conservatory style extension all the way along the back. I need to clear the gutter and unblock the drain pipe on the main house above the extension. I can’t get a ladder up there and can only stand on the conservatory roof with supports on the inside and boards on top. Looking for an easier answer. There is a small gap at the side of the extension that I can get in to reach the bottom of the drain pipe though its not wide enough to take a ladder to reach the top.

Buy some bamboo cains, secure then together a pole of required length using organic twice and to one end firmly attach a hose with gaffer tape (to the other you may want to glue a handle bar grip from a BMX bike). Now position the hose nose in the usual way, once in position turn on the water.
Alternatively create a bung using a discarded cardigan, and block the drain pipe with a hose in the middle of the bung. the flood the drain pipe with water and watch the gunk flow all over your conservatory.
It is possible to get extending poles to which a high pressure lance can be tied.

if you live in erdington you call the tyburn ward maintenance they charge a minimum rate for this sort of work they are subsidised by the city council. Failing that how about trying a pressure washer?

Go to Wal-Mart and buy a drain snake for $9.95, It’s stiff enough to go from the bottom up, rotate it to grab on and pull out the crud, and the next time you have a clogged drain….you’ll have it already on hand. They come in 50 foot and 25 foot lengths
